6 Colors Not to Paint in Your Bedroom

The bedroom space should be conducive for sleep, and the color of your bedroom should create an ideal sleep environment. Many people choose colors that reflect who they are and those that feel intimate.

Still, a bedroom should be cozy, have one of these mattresses at Costco and other essentials for better sleep. And the color you choose will affect how well you rest and how calm you feel in the evening.

Below are some of the colors you should keep out of the bedroom.

  1. Black

Painting your bedroom black is not a good idea. Black darkens the room and creates an illusion the room is smaller. The darkness is amazing to help aid in falling asleep.

But in the morning, it inhibits your ability to wake up. The dark color will decrease your energy, and it is best to avoid painting all your walls black top to bottom the whole bedroom. The best way to incorporate black, if you must, is to choose a feature wall or choose to leave the trims out.

  1. Orange

Painting the bedroom orange, no matter the hue, may seem like a good idea for your bedroom may look eclectic and cool, especially when you add some other color accents like purple and green.

But, when it is time to sleep, the room may be making you feel like you are having a lot of energy, and your mind will find it challenging to fall asleep. Even when you only use a night lamp, the room will still look bright, and it limits how you use your bedroom at night.

Unless it is dark, with all lights switched off and shades down. Sleeping in an orange-filled room is a challenge. The best shade is blue if you want to arrive in slumber land fast.

  1. Neon

Avoid using neon colors such as magenta and electric limes. They bring energy and excitement into the bedroom. Because of the vibrancy neon colors provide, it will be challenging to fall asleep in such a sleep environment.

Yet the bedroom is a place that should be easy to wind down. Some shades that are alternatives to neon you can consider using lighter shades of beige and grey. These are warm colors and are relaxing when it comes to sleeping.

  1. Red

Red is a striking and warm color. But they can evoke feelings of agitation. Hence while using red is not ideal for the bedroom area. It is best to use it in marketing to help stimulate the senses.

But not in a room that you want to fall asleep in easily. Other places where you can use the color red are at the gym, family room places that encourage activity. But, in the bedroom, it reminds you it’s daytime.

  1. Yellow

Yellow, just like red, is a highly stimulating color. Most people appreciate yellow with mornings, the sun, and brightness, a time when you are most alert. Yellow is a better color for the daytime, and choosing it for your bedroom is the first sign you will not experience quality sleep at night.

So keep off this cheerful tone and use it in a different room like the kitchen or game room. But avoid having it for the bedroom. It will only affect the quality and quantity of sleep you get.

  1. Dark brown

The darkness of the color should rule out using it for your bedroom. The color provides a sense of gloom and heaviness. Thus, it decreases the motivation to wake up in the morning.

But if you feel you should paint your bedroom walls a color that does not fit the bedroom space, use them as an accent color or go for their muted counterparts instead of using the main color.

To sum up, the above colors are not wise choices if you want to use them as colors for your bedroom. You should choose colors that help you calm down and sleep.

Blue is one of those colors and hence why most hospitals use it. To help promote a calming environment. You do not want to struggle with insomnia when you go to bed because of the color you use in your bedroom.
