Ghazal is a form of an amatory poet which may be understood as a poetic expression of the pain of loss along with the beauty of love which spread in South Asia in the 12th century with the help of Sufi singers which made the ghazal most prominently form of poetry in many languages.
A ghazal generally consists around five to fifteen couplets which are interrelated to each other in poetic form. Due to the highly allusive nature of ghazal, it has been proved capable of an extraordinary type of emotion around love and separation.

1. Jagjit Singh
Jagjit Singh is one of the well-known Indian Ghazal SInger and a very famous musician. He is also known as a ‘Ghazal King’. He was born on 8 February 1941 at Sri Ganganagar. He died at 10 October 2011 at the age of 70.
One of his most famous albums is ‘The Unforgettable’ which was released in the year of 1976. He also composed all the songs of a very famous TV series named ‘Mirza Ghalib’.
He was awarded many awards like Sahitya Kala Academy Award by Rajasthan government in the year 1998, Teacher’s Lifetime Achievement Award in the year 2006, and many more.
2. Begum Akhtar
Begum Akhtar was another one of the well-known Indian Ghazal singers of Hindustani classical music. She was born on 7th October 1914 at Bhadarsa and sung many famous songs and won numerous awards. She died on 30th October 1974.
She was a well-known singer who sung a number of famous songs which won the heart of thousands of people in India.
She also has sung in many famous movies like Roop Kumari, Jawani ka Nasha, and many more.
She has been awarded as the most talented singers in Hindustani classical music and also became the recipient of the Sangeet Natak Akademi Award in 1972.
3. Pankaj Udhas
Pankaj Udhas is one of the very famous Indian Ghazal Singer who started his career with his very famous album named Aahat in the year 1980 followed by many other famous albums like Mukrar, Mehfil, and many more. He was born on 17th May 1951 at Jetpur.
He has sung many famous albums in Indian history which won the hearts of his fans. Some of his famous songs are Chitthi aayi hai, Jeeye To Jeeye Kaise, Hothon Pe Tera Naam, and lots of other famous songs.

4. Anup Jalota
He was a very famous ghazal singer who was prominently known for Indian devotional music and bhajan. He was born on 29th July 1953 at Phagwara, Punjab. He died at the age of 65. He is also known as ‘Bhajan Samrat’.
He played many famous devotional songs like Mata Ki Aarti, Suraj Ki Garmi Se, Govind Bolo Hari Gopal, and many more.
He was awarded by Padma Shri Award at the year 2012 and also acted as a contestant at Big Boss 12.
Hariharan was a very famous Indian Playback Singer as well as a well known Ghazal Singer who sung many songs in different Indian languages like Tamil, Hindi, Malayalam, Kannada, etc. He was born on 3 April 1955 at Bombay and died at the age of 64.
He made numerous famous albums like Sartaj, Tum Aaye, Chand Ke Sath, Hasrat, and many others.
He was awarded many awards for his outstanding performance in playback singing and for ghazals like National Film Award for Best Male Playback Singer, Swaralaya-Kairali-Yesudas Award, Kerala State Film Awards, and various others.
6. Adithya Srinivasan
Adithya Srinivasan is a very famous Indian singer as well as a songwriter. He is popularly known for his award-winning ghazals, and international classical and pop songs. He was born on 19 June 1922 and performed many shows with Hariharan and Ghulam Ali.
He sang many famous albums like Ghazal Ka Mausam – A Tribute to the Legends, Kaash Aisa Koi Manzur Hota, Gham e Duniya, and others.

7. Shishir Parkhie
Shishir Parkhie was one of the famous Indian playbacks, ghazal, bhajan singer as well as a famous music composer who was born on 7 November 1967 at Nagpur. He performed at various parts of the country and also in other countries of the world.
He has sung various famous albums like Once More Ghazals, Aatish tha, aftaab tha, and also various devotional and spiritual albums like Avatar Meher Baba Ki Amar Katha, Ab Meri Awaaz Suno, and various other famous albums.

8. Talat Mahmood
Talat Mahmood is very famous Indian playback as well as ghazal singers who are also popularly known as ‘The King of Ghazals’ and also as ‘Shahenshah-e-Ghazal’. He was born on 24 February 1942 at Lucknow and died at 9 May 1998 at the age of 74 at Mumbai.
He sang thousands of songs and some of his memorable songs in Indian cinematography are Aansoo samajh ke Kyon mujhe, Main dil hoon ek armaan bhara, Aye Dil Mujhe Aisi Jaga Le Chal, and various others.
He was awarded Padma Bhushan award at the year 1992 for his outstanding contributions in ghazals and Indian cinematography.
9. Jaspreet ‘Jazim’ Sharma
Jaspreet ‘Jazim’ Sharma was a very famous Indian ghazal singer who was born on 12 March 1956. He started showing his divine interest in music since he was 8 and started training under a very famous vocalist Ustad Moosa Khan. he started his music career from the year 1982.
He has sung various famous songs and some of them are Raqeeb-E-Jaan, Woo Ladki Yaad Aati Hai, Ban Gaye Dil Ke Fasane, and many more.
